Last night (16/08/18), Thieves broke into the Tarleton based wholesale plant nursery of Florna Plants Ltd.
A 3.5acre ‘state of the art’ twin skinned multispan polytunnel was cut open and a significant amount of newly transplanted packs of Primroses were stolen.
In a separate block, glass was smashed to gain entry and a crop of Mini Cyclamen was walked over with many destroyed creating much crop damage as well many more stolen plants.
A farm track runs beside these blocks so the thieves must have used a vehicle to take the stolen property away? Neither products are ready for sale yet so do the thieves have access to grow them on?
This just adds to the ever increasing rural crime issues being seen in Agriculture and Horticulture.
