It's not that often you meet a Beatle's celebrity in Ormskirk - even a very minor one.

But Roger Blaxall - on his way to investigate a possible feature at Cottage Lane Mission - met one on Saturday last ... in his milk float.

Chirpy Norman Bowyer belies his 75 years and has been working as a milk boy and milk man (do our PC friends still allow that job description?) for an incredible 68 years, starting as an eight year old with Capsticks in Liverpool.

Much of his working life was spent in The Dingle, hence the unique sobriquet 'I was Ringo's milkman'...

"I knew Mr. and Mrs. Starkey well and young Richard, too" he told QLocal on his rounds on Church Hill Road.

All those years in the milk world have done Norman no harm at all and he's not planning to retire anytime soon, unlike, perhaps his J reg. milk float!
