There’s been some extremely positive feedback for the new Burscough Business Network which launched last month.

Its first meeting was hosted at Merlin's Bakery Cafe on the Industrial Estate; there has been a well established ‘Business Watch’ there hosted at Biffa in liaison with the Police, and the businesses that attended those meetings – which primarily focused on crime - felt the remit of the group needed to be broadened to include a network opportunity where businesses could meet each other and mutually benefit.

Around 30 Burscough businesses were represented at the breakfast launch along with local borough councillors Dave Evans and John Davis; Burscough Parish Council is supporting the group in the initial stages whilst it develops into a sustainable entity run for local businesses by local businesses.

The initial meeting discussed creating a business directory covering the estate, (also aiding job searches and recruitment); contribution to a 24/7 defibrillator located on the estate (£1500 approx. to install and £50 pa to maintain); lobbying for improved public transport to improve accessibility onto the estate - especially for employees and whether businesses should purchase a solar SPID for the estate.

In future, it’s hoped a couple of businesses will showcase their work at each meeting, while one long term plan’s to employ a shared business manager to promote the area.

Said Tess Reddington, PC Clerk: “We are encouraging all Burscough businesses to attend the next meeting in June and share what they do for everyone's benefit.

“Our thanks go to P&A Projects and Ultragraph for sponsoring the event with refreshments, printing & social marketing - it was very much appreciated.”

Redolution - a new company to Burscough - will showcase their exciting new business at the next meeting. Organisers are also looking for another company to present; contact Julie via the parish council office 01704 894914 or admin@burscoughpc.org.uk.

The next meeting is on Wednesday, 7 June at Merlin's Bakery Cafe from 7.45am, and the FB link is https://www.facebook.com/events/1249...9840928469635/
