Celebrate local yarn shops on 6th and 7th May 2017 with The Wool Boat moored near Burscough Wharf.

Whether you love crochet or prefer to work with needles, Yarn Shop Day is a must for your diary.

On the 6th May 2017, the fourth annual Yarn Shop Day will take place in craft stores across the country, and our local based Wool Boat is just one of the many shops that is excited to be involved. The event has been organised by UK leading magazines Let's Knit and Let's Get Crafting in a bid to celebrate Britain's much-loved independent wool shops.

“We can't wait to take part in the event,” say Carole and Capt Col of what they believe to be the worlds only floating yarn wool and yarn shop. “Crafting is growing in popularity, and we know that customers rely on their local yarn shop for more than just needles and wool. Many people come in for advice and they love to feel part of a crafting community.”

On Saturday 6th and Sunday the 7th May Carole and Colin Wareing on the boat will have new yarns, free patterns and goody bags for the first customers of the day. Carole has designed a new hat and cushion cover for the day and will have patterns for both to give away with the yarn to knit them from. There will be discounted yarns as well. Carole says “We are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new aboard, and hope our local knitters and crocheter’s will get involved. We’ll be open 10-5 on both days.

“We had some fantastic feedback from our participating stores and many had their busiest trading day of the year. We're really excited about this year's event, which looks set to be the biggest and best one yet. Whether you're an experienced knitter or new to the crafting scene, head on down to your local store to see what treats are on offer this Yarn Shop Day.” said Let's Knit editor Sarah Neal.
