The mild weather this weekend resulted in a number of calls to West Lancashire Police about hare coursing across the division.

Although we didn't catch them all, four individuals were detained, they had travelled some considerable distance from outside of Lancashire to 'walk their dogs'.

Officers felt that it was only right, seeing as they had travelled so far, that they left Lancashire with a gift to mark their visit, and as a result they have all been reported and will receive their summons through the post but they won't be using this vehicle to attend court as it was seized under the Hunting Act 2004...

Oh good excellent news.

Having caught these medieval throwbacks, how to deal with them? for me they should be banned from having dogs or anything to do with dogs, a hefty fine, then a few hundred hours doing unpaid community work at a wild life centre, putting the scum in jail is just a waste of time and money.

Well done West Lancs Police, a few more would be good.
