A local classic car buff had to be rescued from the roadside after his prized MG broke down at Robins Island yesterday.

His rare VA which has just undergone an amazing restoration suffered an electrical fault as he was on his way to get petrol at the local Shell garage in Maghull.

He was rescued by the RAC; many drivers did a double take as they watched the car being recovered, remembering the good old days of motoring when MG was a ‘Best of British’ marque.

Contrast the 1937 VA with MG’s new E-Motion, a stunning Tesla rival revealed at the Shanghai motor show this week - SAIC, which now owns MG Motor, expect to launch this amazing newcomer in 2020 for around £30,000.
