Now, there have been new moves on its doorstep to deal with ignorant and selfish parkers with wooden stakes being used to prevent parking near St Helens Road and appropriate signs - a sign of how serious the problem is...

An Edge Hill PR officer told QLocal yesterday: “St Helens Road is designated as a clearway, which means it is restricted to protect all road users.

"We have put no parking signs in this area to advise road users as it is not permitted to stop or park cars in this area. We have also placed no parking signs along the grass verge at the exit to our main car park as parking here could cause an obstruction and damage the landscaped area.

“We have provided temporary additional alternative car parking, are promoting the use of public transport and car sharing, and advising people to use town centre car parks if they are not able to park on campus.”

Of course, opposite are open fields - part of Lord Derby's estate - which the Uni. would love to get its hands on...

The council must pull there finger out ! It is becoming a joke ! If nothing is done soon I will be asking for residents support in applying for a reduction in the property rates as we didn't buy a house in the middle of a car park !
