Local residents on High Lane, Ormskirk say they are still no clearer over when a large new housing estate will start on their doorstep.

QLocal understands that a move onto the farmland off the A59 is imminent and reporter Roger Blaxall chatted to a group of Taylor Wimpey surveyors last week; one said then that contractors would move onto the land last Monday to start bringing stone on to form rudimentary 'roads'.

On Tuesday, one local lady said the last time she had had a progress report was a few weeks ago from the Borough Council although there had been no update on the start date for the 311 home development that'll take about five years to complete.

The development will see even closer links between Ormskirk and Burscough with a new linear park built as a council PR officer explained.

A statement released to QLocal yesterday reads: "The linear park between Burscough and Ormskirk will be a wonderful amenity for local people and provide an attractive link between the two places for walkers, cyclists and the whole community when it is completed.

"The Grove Farm section of the Linear Park will be completed as part of the development that has now commenced at High Lane, and the Yew Tree Farm section will be completed as that strategic site is developed. The Council will consider the best option for delivery of the section linking those two sites once the Grove Farm section is more advanced.
