The February meeting of New Ormskirk Residents Group (NORG) was given over to a talk and interactive session delivered by Gail Godson manager for a local homecare provider “Home Instead”.

The Heskin Lane company provides quality care to enable people with dementia to live at home independently for as long as possible; Gail’s background is steeped in health being a qualified nurse, midwife and having held senior NHS clinical roles.

This well attended meeting represented a departure from the usual monthly topics covered and was designed to highlight the fact that scientists, politicians and charities all say that it is time to adjust to a new future in which dementia is part of all our lives – as carers, patients or just members of a society in which for economic reasons, if nothing else, those living with the disease will have to integrate into our communities, rather than living on the fringes.

NORG members have been busy making “twiddle muffs” - a simple way to occupy the agitated hands and fingers of some dementia sufferers.

NORG is a non political residents group. For more information email us at ormskirkrg@outlook.com
