Yesterday, a new bench was placed in Coronation Park, Ormskirk, in memory of Jack Bibby, a well respected resident of the town.
All his working life he was employed as a watchmaker at Wainwrights the Jewellers on Burscough Street; the oak bench is situated in the Bowling Green area and depicts Jack’s life – work and leisure – as watchmaker and fell walker.
"He spent his army service in the Lancashire Fusiliers and it is fitting that the model is called Fusilier!" said his widow, June, of Bathsprings.
The Bench was handcrafted by Classic Memorial Benches of Lathom, who produced this masterpiece; June told QLocal that it's an excellent firm to deal with, taking pride in their work.
And she's thanked the park authorities and Anne Faulkner, the Ranger, for allowing the bench to be placed there - hoping it will give people pleasure for many years to come.
