Do selfish drivers on Long Lane, Aughton need to be reminded of a new commandment?
Aughton Park Baptist Church has invested in a new notice board and with its Bible texts prominent for all to see, is there room too for an 11th commandment - 'Thou shalt not speed'?
Despite the occasional appearance of a Police camera van and even rarer appearances by a community speed watch team, speed remains a perennial problem on the road which is getting busier by the month as a quick route to the M58 missing out busy Ormskirk town centre.
The matter's made worse by the number of cars parking outside Aughton Park railway station and the amount of tractors speeding up and down the road - are some tractor drivers stupid, illiterate or both?
There are numerous near misses at the junction of Long Lane, Scarth Hill Lane and Parrs Lane; Aughton parish councillors have recently had funding for a number of new SPID's with one hopefully being permanently sited on Long Lane - let’s hope someone doesn’t break the sixth commandment 'Thou shalt not kill' in the meantime...
