The whole family can get in pole position to enjoy a great day out at one of the biggest free events in the North West as the Ormskirk MotorFest comes to town on Sunday 26 August.

Up to 300 fabulous cars and motorcycles representing all types and eras of motoring will line up on the town centre streets and in Coronation Park.

There will be a huge range of other wonderful cars on display, including the Ginetta GT4 G55 driven by 19-year-old Ben Wallace, of Southport, in the British GT4 Championship. Ben is currently in his first year competing on the competition but has been racing cars since he was 14-years old after a number of successes in kart racing. In 2017 he was third in the VW Racing Cup driving a Golf GTI.

Ben is also a fundraiser for Diabetes UK and suffers from type 1 diabetes.

He said: "I am very excited about coming to Ormskirk Motorfest as this will be the first time I have been to this marvellous event. I am looking forward to speaking to people about the car and the championship I compete in, and also about the charity I raise money for. I may even let people sit in the car so they can see what it's like to be behind the steering wheel of a genuine racing car."

Other fantastic cars coming to MotorFest include the Aston Martin 5.2 Litre V12 DB11 Coupe, provided by Aston Martin Wilmslow and wrapped in an exclusive Red Bull Racing digital camouflage livery designed to celebrate the partnership of Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing’s formula one venture.

There will also be Bentleys, Ferraris, Porsches, and a whole host of other classic, competition and sports cars and motorcycles on display. Some of the finest will take part in the MotorFest's Concours de Elegance on Coronation Park.

An exciting extra attraction at the event will be the Makers’ Market at Ormskirk Bus Station car park. A great selection of stalls will be set up selling art and crafts, retro, vintage and up-cycled wares and there will also be live entertainment, games and activities including face painting for children.

Visitors can also enjoy the amazing Lancashire Open Exhibition at the Chapel Gallery with over 200 artworks.

The MotorFest fun starts about 11am and runs through until about 5pm. MotorFest visitors can see many of the cars in action and hear the roar of the engines during parade laps around Ormskirk town centre between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

Ormskirk MotorFest is a free event organised by Aintree Circuit Club, supported by West Lancashire Borough Council.

Councillor John Hodson, portfolio holder for Planning, said: “The marvellous MotorFest really has something for everyone so don't miss this fantastic day out for people of all ages. We hope local businesses will take advantage of so many people being around to open their doors for the day.”

Mike Ashcroft, Aintree Circuit Club chairman, said: “We are really excited about all the marvellous cars and motorcycles coming to Ormskirk MotorFest. It will be a fantastic day out for people of all ages, so come along and enjoy the fun.”

Visitors are encouraged where possible to come to the event by public transport. There is a good direct train service from all stations from Liverpool to Ormskirk and a many bus services come into the town. Ormskirk bus and train stations are a few minutes walk from the town centre streets where the displays begin.

Alternatively a regular park and ride vintage bus service, priced at £5 per car, will operate from Edge Hill University for the MotorFest, starting at 10am. The service will take a break for the parade laps from 2.10pm and then resume for a short time at 4.30pm until MotorFest finishes.
