Tonight, Wednesday May 17, was the opening night for Nellie's the Indian restaurant that describes themselves as "indian street food, gin & cocktail bar".
It is certainly an Indian restaurant of very quality and has its own unique atmosphere.
At the side of the very inviting entrance is an outdoor seating area with a firepit burning logs.
Expect a great welcome and be offered drinks from the excellent bar with a fabulous range of gins and cocktails.
Decor inside is also to a very high and imaginative standard. The main dining room is very spacious and full of features.
Despite a very busy opening night the service was friendly, prompt, and very professional. Management and staff really go out of their way to make your evening very enjoyable.
Nellie is sure worth a visit by anyone who enjoys indian food.
Located next to the canal bridge at Pinfold halfway between Southport & Ormskirk. Opening times are 5:30pm - 11pm Monday to Friday, and 4pm-1pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Telephone bookings recommended on 01704 841222.
What about the food? Well this is not a food review but my partner and I had a two course meal with a mixed starter and then curry and a lentil dahl. We both love indian food but both thought it was excellent, different than what we have tasted before, and will certainly be returning and look forward to exploring their menu of dishes.
I can personally recommend the Cobra Zero beer if you are driving.

So is this just a rebrand of the Blue Elephant or is it substantially different?

Personally I'd say substantial.

Also legs crossed if the food hasn't been looked after properly.

I agree - they need to work on their presentation as well as it looks like they just randomly dumped everything onto a plate !
