Thefts in Southport
Yes, it is confirmed, they are back. As far as I have been able to tell, this is the same group that was here about four or so years ago. Most people carry mobile phones with an integrated camera - use these to take photographs of anyone strange to your area - you never know when it could come in handy. Thefts have been reported on the border of Southport towards Birkdale area - check all your sheds and ensure you lock all windows, let neighbours know when you are going away so that they can watch over your property.

I'm guessing the bike thieves, as my brother in law got his stolen about 4 years ago, and there have been reports on here again.
Anyone who has a garage/shed with anything of value in it might want to look into getting a fog bandit system. The company I work for will be setting these up soon.

We have just had a demo in our office, It doesn't leave any residue at all, it took about 30 minutes to clear and just in case the firemen are called it smells of mint so they know its not smoke. Its a fantastic idea.

I heard of two pushbikes being taken from outside the Victoria gym on the prom the other night too. They were locked up and the people, I use the term loosely, who took them had bolt cutters and just snipped the locks and took them. It may have been the same night the motorcross bikes went.
My partner had his bike taken the end of last summer outside the gym in the same manner, there was a spate of them going from around town at that time too.

That's an interesting facility - appears to be a lot of theft happening around the north end of town centre. Recall hearing there was a higher level of unemployment in that area.....crime seems to go with it
N.B. Pity they don't break the figures down further, to show cycle theft as a separate statistic. Would be enlightening to know if there's any hotspots for that.
