Alfie
I'm surprised there is no on-going thread about this child's terrible situation . Maybe posters are maintaining a dignified silence although it's being played out so publically. It is clearly a very complex situation both medically and ethically and a nightmare for Alfie's parents and the staff at Alder Hey.
Protesters outside the building not to mention actual threats to individual consultants etc must make coming to work intolerable , and this is desperately sad for the hospital as a whole , which has such a wonderful reputation world-wide.
Given that the childrens' hospital in Rome was / is prepared to care for Alfie , presumably for an indefinite time period , and suitable transfer is available to facilitate this , it is difficult for me to understand why the courts seem implacably opposed to the parents' wishes in this regard. I guess it boils down to whether parents should have the ultimate right to determine their child's care options if these conflict with medical opinion at the time .
The parents are again considering another hearing at the European Court.
If Alfie was your child - how far would you go?
Whatever it is - I blame Brexit!

There are 2 news threads running, there are clearly differences of opinion and out of respect I'd suggest we leave it at that.
Another thread with people throwing insults at each other doesn't help anyone. Threads are started in good faith but sadly soon deteriorate.

It's a very sad situation, I think that if there was a thread it would turn into a slagging match so IMO it's better left that's there is no thread .
I just wish the situation can be resolved , and god bless Alfie.
REST IN PEACE THE 96.

What can one say other than absolute pity for the grief stricken parents.
The parents supporters behaviour is truly embarrassing.
Who storms a children's hospital and sends abusive messages to nhs staff?
Doctors sued for murder?

believe me. the story put out by the Media, TV & papers is not exactly true. What you see on TV, storming the building, death threats etc is a way emphasizing by the Media their hatred for Liverpool people.
They only interview on TV The Liverpool Scousers who are poorly educated, girls in pyjamas etc.
The weapons of mass-destruction are the TV News Companies and the ammunition is the News Readers and the people who choose the way a news story is told.
Cliff Richard may be right.
The Vatican's involvement is surprising. I would not think They would get involved in a situation that could back fire on them.
The Alfie Story is very complicated. The thousands of people standing outside of Alder Hey is not 1% of the real story.
