Just trying to find if anyone remembers some of the teachers and pupils from 1961 to 1965?

Just some teachers to start things off with Mrs. Parkinson, Mr. Bertwell, Mr. Williams, headmaster Mr. Robinson, Miss Cunningham, Mr Foster, Mr. Shepherd, Mr. Postlethwaite, Mr. Walton, Mr. Roberts, Mr. Bond.

Any pupils from class 1B,2B,3B,and 4B just some names I remember, John Hamer, Susan Lavender, Eddy Richardson, John Harrison, Mike Rimmer, Pauline Thompson, Barbara Rimmer, Margaret Dutton, Karen Whiteman.

Just looking back at some memories of when we used to go to the Victoria baths for swimming lessons in the summer.

When I started in 1981, Mr Birtwell and Mr Shepherd were still there. Mr Birtwell owned a share in a guest house / hotel down Bath St called Sunny Haven, came across him one Sunday afternoon coming out of there in the late 80's. Long after I had left.

I was there from 1966 - 1971, some of the teachers names are familiar, also remember Mr Schober, Mrs Hanlon, Mrs Titherington, Mr Jackson, Miss Hayes to name but a few.

Mrs Titherington and Mr Schober were there when I was there too. Mr Schober hated my guts for some reason.....I think one of them was because I was crap at physics. I did try my best but for some reason all the experiments I did turned out wrong....

Sorry, can't help. My alma mater was St. Thomas More School, Birkdale, Southport.

I remember Mr Robinson, Mrs Parkinson, Mr Williams, Mr Shephard, Mr. Postlethwaite, Mr. Walton, Miss Heyes, Mr Winfield, Mr Cowan. Barry Twist was head boy ( later to be Deputy Head ).

Barry Twist was never Deputy Head, he was head of second year. Tom Crocker head of third year, Taffy Davies head of fourth, can't remember who was head of fifth year though.

A similar thread was started on 29/10/2011on Q local, poster Xroads included a photograph of the staff at that time.
Other teachers - Head Mr. Sheppard, Mrs. Crilly, Mr Williams and another who reminded me of Hercule Poirot but forgot his name.

Barry Twist was never Deputy Head, he was head of second year. Tom Crocker head of third year, Taffy Davies head of fourth, can't remember who was head of fifth year though.

Barry Twist was deputy head prefect as the head prefect was Paul Bate I think, I remember Susan Humphries who had a brother called Dave as far as I know he became a police sergeant in the then Southport police (before the merseyside police days).
Taffy Davies I seem to remember was the maths teacher in the next room to Ted Shepherd on the first floor, I remember Miss Hayes she taught Geography and Miss Swain who taught French she used to live opposite the cemetery gates on Liverpool Rd just past St. Thomas mores school.
Mrs Hanlon taught typing, Mr Winfield taught metalwork, MR Agar taught gardening, Mr Williams was woodwork teacher.

I seem to remember that for some reason Mr Winfield was referred to 'pinhead' and Mr Agar 'chew'. Mr Winfield was a disgrace, as soon as he had set off the task in the metalwork room he used to bugger off to the common room for a fag & cuppa and leave a bunch of kids alone in possibly the most dangerous room in the school.
As soon as he was gone a couple of the class thugs would start larking about and end up with throwing hammers, files and other assorted metalwork across the room at each other, god help anyone who got in the way. Until Mr Williams, from the woodworking room next door, heard the noise and came storming in, he was the complete opposite, a holy terror when it came to discipline. Not to forget the time when one moron thought it would be clever to fill a metal watering can with gas and see what happens when you throw it on the brazier, poof! one idiot stood giggling with a red scorched face and smouldering eyebrows and hair. Very funny, not! Happy Days (that reminds me, anyone remember Happy?)

I'd forgotten 'Laddie' Walton, I think Mr Cowan was 'Dessie' I'd forgotten Mr Postlewaite.
