If you are a pigeon fancier living in or around the Southport area, this could concern you.

    'eh !

Pigeons show great affection to their owners
Because of that (and other issues) you want a cull on birds of prey !

There used to be dozens of pigeon fanciers in Southport, especially in the High Park area, but very few these days.
There comes a point in your life when you realise who really matters, who never did and who always will.

  10. I would have thought that having one of natures Feathered killers on your tail feathers would be the sort of impetus that would convince the Racing pigeons to fly even faster?
Sorry but racing pigeons must take their chances with the natural predators no matter how expensive some pigeons can be.I have nothing against racing pigeons{my father used to keep them} & in his day the great menace was Cats breaking into the loft. No one has destroyed all the Cats nor will they.
I can't support destroying birds of prey,i think they deserve protection.
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms ... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants, they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

I keep seeing posts about dog groomers - I assume Pigeon fanciers do something similar.

I would be very interested to know about this onslaught on aviaries by birds of prey. Do they let themselves in with a key ?

In all seriousness - somebody complaining about a sparrow hawk taking a robin - ffs thats what they do.

The pigeon fanciers are showing the same reactions as the gamekeepers of old, simple fact birds of prey only prosper when there are adequate food sources, it is impossible for birds of prey to eradicate other species when in fact they will also eradicate themselves.

Only humans are stupid enough to do that.

Bit of a daft petition if you ask me, I have aviaries with various parakeets and never have they been attacked by birds of prey, I also have 20 or so pigeons, some on young, and again I dont have a problem. I did have a problem with a few local cats, but have solved that problem by giving my dove's a safe, cat proof area to land

would never wish to see any animal culled just to make a few pigeon fanciers happy.

My budgie broke his leg today so I made him a little splint out of a couple of Swan Vesta matches, his little face lit up when he tried to walk.. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to remove the sandpaper from the bottom of his cage.

well I hope you made good use of it in this cold weather, would have made a good hand warmer

And mick the miller, your budgie cleary does'nt appreciate your kindness, so let him out the window and give the pigeons a break, that will teach the little **** to know which side his bread is buttered
