Decades ago I planned to see him play at the Capital Jazz festival .
Chuck was headlining on the Saturday but my gf at the time bought tickets for the wrong day .
Turns out he played for 25 minutes , with no encore .

On the Sunday we saw Ella Fitzgerald .... thank you fate !!!

Keith Richard once organized an all-star tribute show to celebrate some anniversary of Chuck's .
Keith's equipment didn't arrive so Chuck " loaned " him some ....
.... then sent him a bill for rental .

But on a more positive note , he did write the greatest song of all time :-
" My Ding-a-Ling "
