Actually post 5 was the catalyst. But nothing alters the fact that the OP was an interesting subject for discussion. So, if it doesn't interest you, why bother?

I am interested in the OP. I don't agree with the OP. I gave my opinion. I was personally insulted for having a different opinion. Another poster accused me of having a problem with the OP'er based on... I haven't. I don't know them.

Well it won't be a program I'd tune into. Think I'd rather watch an episode of EastEnders and I hate that program :-). But at least it would stir some sort of emotion, even if it was a negative one.

Well, of course, I'm a fan of running ( not so keen on the throwing events).
I used to know a chap who hated competitive running. He couldn't see the point.
His passion was machines - of all sorts -and the drive to improve and perfect them.
One time. I said to him. Imagine that there was a machine with millions of working parts. A machine that has been refined and improved over millions of years. A machine that also had a mental/thinking aspect.
Then, I asked him: "Would you interested in hearing about the drive to improve and perfect that machine?"

Well, that machine is the human body, and when athletes strive to set new standards ( i.e. breaking records ), they are at the cutting edge of human deveolpment. They are trying to boldly go places that no humans have been before.

By the way, this Saturday Laura Muir ( the most exciting British talent to have emerged in years ) will be trying to break Kelly Holme's 1000m indoor record. It's live on TV. ( but could Gareth Bale beat her? )

I draw your attention to your post No.9. Which was in itself disparaging and an obvious attempt to discredit the OP. Consequently you're hardly in a position to complain about the tone of any responses.

Perhaps I could also draw your attention to previous comments on here that, "footballers run, a long way and so do athletes". However "joiners do not lay bricks". Making your attempt at an analogy both wrong and......erm!.....irrelevant!

Mate, you're drowning in your own argument.

I dont think so chum! But you've probably run out of excuses. Still as you've already said, we are all entitled to our own opinions which we've both made quite plain so, let's just leave it at that 'äy ?
