Gender Neutral.
I read today that a Head has decided that ALL pupils wear the same uniform, trousers NO skirts. Call me old fashioned but there has always been a sure fire way of telling whether a child is a BOY or a GIRL so why not punch some sense into these imbeciles that are trying to turn every child into a Neutral. I am sick tired and fed up the way this Country is turning into a bl**dy Circus and it is about time someone said STOP.

It's a uniform, it's uniform.
Strikes me as odd all the news rags went with 'gender neutral' in the headline, I haven't actually managed to find the direct quote from the headteacher using the term 'gender neutral', at least not with quotation marks anyway.
I have two daughters, one wears pants for school as she's always playing sporty games, climbing, rolling and generally just messing about, my other daughter chooses to wear a skirt. I would prefer them both in pants, they're far more practical. They protect their knees a bit better if they fall when playing, they're warmer than tights or socks and skirts blow up in the wind meaning my daughter always has to wear shorts underneath. I protested along with many other girls in high school as we wanted to wear pants and were not allowed, we were forced to wear skirts, 15 years ago.
Men and women fire-fighters wear gender neutral uniforms, as do serving military personnel in most roles, never seen that make the headlines. I am certain there are many, many other uniforms that are 'gender neutral', or as I like to call them, uniform.
Sooner will a camel pass through a needle's eye than a great man be "discovered" by an election.

Why do YOU need to tell whether a child is a boy or a girl?

I think it is a good move forward.
The question was forced years ago when girls from religiously observant family's wore trousers under their skirts.
I believe the school and parents were also unhappy at girls wearing their skirts 'too short'.

One reason given is to cater for the alleged growing number of transgender pupils, plus I have no doubt that there is more than an element of pandering to religious superstitions and fantasy.
Our granddaughter wears skirts or trousers as and when she wishes, many girls prefer to wear skirts until the cold weather comes and why not?
Also noticed one school ran an inspection of uniforms and pupils who had sourced clothes from anyone other than the "approved" and more expensive supplier were sent home or made to take classes separately from their fellow classmates.
Personally I agree with uniforms for school, if only to curb the ambitions of those who regard clothing as some sort of status symbol or fashion show, but school is not the army or prison and a totally rigid enforcement will only arouse opposition or hostility.

I think it is a good move. I doubt it has anything to do with transgender kids, as surely if a genetic male felt the need to dress like a girl, this doesn't address it at all. No pun intended.
When I was a kid we envied the boys being able to wear trousers, especially during the winter. And seeing some of the older girls at my gandson's school, with skirts rolled up into a belt (I know, old boot ) I'd be more than happy for my daughter to have to wear trousers.
That is the whole point. A uniform uniform.

Well take it forward a bit more then and make them ALL have the same length hair then as if life isn't complicated enough they can start wondering what they actually are. I don't know what the problem is with Girls being able to Dress as Girls if they wish without someone taking it upon themselves to decide for them that Girls will wear Boys clothing. As someone has pointed out it is a uniform but if Girls want to be girls then they have the right to dress as such. Why didn't the head make every one wear a girls uniform then I'm sure there would be no outcry against that or would there?

Can't say it really bothers me either way. I guess it does away with the issue of boys wanting to wear shorts in the summer. As has been in the news recently. Also does away with the how short is to short issue.
I'd still like my daughter to have the choice, but it's not exactly a major issue.

The point of so-called gender neutral (which is a misleading description) is clear from the post already made here....
girls should dress like girls and boys like boys
So what exactly does that mean?
What shouldgirls dress like?
Are they not girls if they wear trousers?
Are boys somehow not boys if they wear a skirt?
Clothing has always been dictated by society. I remember when long hair became fashionable for men that the common complaint was that you couldn't tell if they were a man or a woman. I mean... really? You couldn't tell?

FGS, another load of BS...let the pupil themself determine if they want skirts or trousers...if it's uniform, then that should be enough...CHOICE..
May I add, that many teenage girls feel extremely uncomfortable wearing trousers when it's 'that time of the month', and feel more comfortable in a skirt...
Whatever next...
Is this what the policy makers get paid for...unbelievable...

Men wear kilts.
When I was a child coats were gender specific in the way they buttoned up to the left or the right for boy and girl.
