The only appropriate place for the cross of St George is flying from official buildings and from beautiful English churches in the shires. Anywhere else and it marks you as one of the racists and football supporting chavs that appropriated our national flag many years ago.
We are English and secure in our national identify. Show me a nation that obsesses about its flag, and I'll show you a nation insecure in its national identity (cf. USA).

The irony being that most of the "flag" merchants would not be happy if an Italian muslim of Syrian/Turkish parentage moved in next to them, even if he was called "George".

Poor old George was born in Palestina Greater Syria beheaded in Turkey byorder of the Emperor Diocletian for refusing to deny his Christian Faith.
The irony is to believe the history of George the Lege one has to believe the time line history of which he comes from.
