Homeless in Southport.
I have 2 clean duvets and towels.
Where do I take them to?
Also a bag of clean jeans.

The Soup Kitchen and other organisations who help the homeless send them to The Salvation Army charity shop with a letter of what they need. The Army then let the homeless person pick out what they need, no charge of course. If you give your stuff in at the shop there is no guarantee a homeless person will get your items but any money raised from the sale of them is ploughed back in and so will help any homeless.

There will be more homeless people in Southport next year when Universal Credit kicks in. Read in the Metro paper today about ex forces guy living on £8 aweek and lost his home due to UC. It disgusts me that even working people have to be reliant on foodbanks and UC in 2018.

That is correct Hetty. The Soup Kitchen has no suitable storage for textiles or clothes so people are advised to take such donations to the Sally Ann., who do provide anything needed to those with a voucher from the SK.

a lot of textiles donated to charity shops goes to baled up shredding ,for a fee that goes back into the charity and rarely sees the end needed.sadly!whats the answer anyones guess ,its only going to get worse, for some.personally have noticed a few out and about, that will be getting my pasing by xmas hampers this year,a more direct recognition of being, just my way of giving, its a burdensome time of year for many in need.so just give!x

I have always wondered why the large Salvation Army building don't take in the homeless especially during the winter. I believe the premises in Shakespeare street cost well over 1 million pound to build. I am sure the homeless would appreciate the chance. It would also save wonderful people time seeking out these poor souls to help them.
