    Is this true?

Just seen a report that Southport A&E could be closed!

    What madness is his?

Whilst Ormskirk is not that far away, it is ( or can be) vert difficult to get to. Not everyone has constant access to a car. The road from Southport to Ormskirk are often gridlocked and this could cause distress to any person who needs to attend A & E in an emergency. Also the extra pressure on the Ormskirk A & E could lead to very long waiting times for those needing emergency care.

What is this world coming to?
I may be old but I ain't stupid..!!!

It's true that it could happen. That doesn't necessarily mean that it will happen.
Also I believe there is no adults A&E in Ormskirk, only childrens.
Regardless if the Tories get their way the NHS will be gone soon.

A&E is to be concentrated in the recently created Trauma Centres this is not news, the other existing A&E 's will become 9-5 Minor injury clinics and the attached hospitals will become 'Cottage Hospitals' only dealing with minor cases.

Ormskirk has a children's A&E, a walk in GP centre and a minor injuries unit, both the latter are daytime only.

The Tories would dearly love to close the NHS in it's entirety, that would be political suicide if done at a stroke, instead we have death by a thousand cuts along with "improvements" which somehow manage to reduce services or make them less accessible.

Of course apart from the obvious savings by closing units, many people will simply die before they get to a trauma centre, just look at the savings there .

I may vote Tory but, that doesn't say I agree with ALL thier policies. Indeed I disagree with a lot of thier policies , does that statement satisfy your silly ego.
