New houses to be built on flood plain - Formby.
Just a heads-up for those adjacent to, or who like me live or travel around the area surrounding Brackenway in Formby. It will likely also effect you if you use the Bypass for work etc too, especially at peak times, and not just during any building work.
Wimpey are planning nearly 300 new houses on the flood plain land behind Brackenway in Formby, adjacent to the Formby Bypass. A 'public exhibition' whatever that is, is to take place on September 7th at the address below.. Where you can see plans and provide feedback/opposition to these plans.
Especially if like many residents on Hawksworth Drive and Brackenway your once open view over the fields will then vanish, and the local roads that are already like a race track will no doubt be able to hold race-days! if plans go ahead.
I seem to remember that not so many years ago Hawksworth Drive was severely flooded which is not so difficult really as the whole area is below sea level. The Fire Service were down there for a few weeks pumping out water from the overloaded dyke and homes.. I was under the impression that our green belt land was supposed to being protected these days?
Also just wondering where the extra doctors, schooling and local services are going to be for a possible extra 300 families? You already have real trouble getting a doctor or a school place etc in Formby as it is.
Public exhibition... September 7th

not only that , but a new junction onto the by pass , and another one for the industrial estate expansion , so the drive to work for many in the north of Sefton will take even longer !!!
and when this place floods , so will the value of the houses , many people are doing careful searches before buying a house here even now !!
always reverse to see what you have run over ...

There have been many reports for the past fifteen years or more about how much of the UK's Green Belt land is being stolen for housing projects. It was one of the major issues that Brexit voter's were against. There is no shortage of housing until there are no more houses for sale - at present there are more than 1.5 million houses for sale in the UK. Yesteryear's concern was Health and Safety - that has now been thrown on the scrap heap. The present furore appears to be greed and more greed, sod safety!

not only that , also an increase in tax , and less services !!
we were having a discussion about organising a cycle ride in Ince woods soon , every man and his dog on a push bike , both ways , perhaps on a busy day , a bit like when the residents in Long Preston used their crossing a lot to get a point across !!!!

There is big money at stake! Where there is large amounts of money there will always be corruption! Councils and Councillors are paid for by the people, they exist supposedly to make the local environment a safer and better place to be and to serve the people who pay their inflated salaries! Please take note and show what you feel in the next local election!

It's not flood plain. Check the Environment Agency website

It isn't floodplain. The flooding occurred due to severe rainfall and private owners failing to adhere to their riparian responsibilities - I.E. they let their culverts get clogged up. And the extra Council tax and income tax will pay for schools and doctors etc. Otherwise our kids will have to move to somewhere where there is available and affordable housing.

How do you figure that council tax will pay for schools, doctors etc when many schools in Formby have been closed down over the years and with the closing of Ainsdale High many pupils are now attending Formby or Range High School.
Virtually every piece of land I played on as a child in Formby has been built on and yet the facilities have been culled over the years.
Formby is already gridlocked at morning time. Commuters fighting to get out of the four junctions that are presently there and only three junctions at home time. However adding another junction will only decrease the flow of traffic.

This new housing development is necessary.
Our country's population has increased dramatically over the last 20 years (a good thing) so we need more houses.

once a new junction gets built on Liverpool road for the new builds off Alt road , the traffic in the evening will back up onto the by pass blocking the nearside lane , I speak like its a done deal , it probably is ????

There will also be a brand new bunch of folk ready to complain to the Formby Times or Formby Bubble about the noise of planes from the aerodrome - you'd think some had moved in next to Heathrow and no one had told them it was there

It seems that somehow building is still planned for this area of Formby flood plane. I wonder if it's actually legal to build on such land especially when it's known flooding & flooded area?
I remember only a few years ago that this area was under feet of water. Even the horses that are usually in the fields adjacent to RAF Woodvale had to be moved elsewhere due to the water depth on the land.
