Some say lack of driver training.

I can’t see the RMT being too happy at that prospect.

Mostly lack of drivers, they pay less than the other companies so they have a retention problem, an issue caused by privatisation.

As most drivers are members of A.S.L.E & F. I doubt the RMT will lose too much sleep over it.

As for Driverless trains it will not happen, I know someone is going to come back with "what about the Docklands Light Railway" that is what it says A Light Railway with trains moving at little more than walking pace.

Anyone who thinks there will be 125 mph trains and 1500 ton freight trains and stopping trains using the same system without drivers is from Cloud Cuckoo land.

What is happening is an absolute disgrace, and the government should take action against the company involved .

DLR seems to move at a good pace. Practically indistinguishable from the Tube trains with their overpaid drivers.

Certainly seems better than the rattle and roll of the dreadful Southport-Manchester line.

The franchise needs taking o them an it needs to be run by somebody who knows what to do.

This lot couldn't run a bath!

Where are our elected representatives when we need them?
Farron is spouting his piece for the Lake District, Burnham spouts for Manchester but where are the West Lancs, Chorley & South Ribble Politicians , we know where the Southport one is, sat next to Chris Fayling with a grin on his face.
The Local Council & Councilors are equally silent, we had this debacle on the Sunday of the Airshow also but not a peep, visitors will not return to the town if they experience long delays they will stay at home or go elsewhere.

This fiasco is surely the best advert for nationalised railways, the privateers have show conclusively that profit is their only concern, actually running a service is very much secondary.

Are you a twin by any chance, because you’re far too stupid to be one person.

Driverless trains won't happen on the current railway, they need to be on purpose built infrastructure not the Victorian infrastructure in this country.

And I'm telling you it won't. Answer me this one then Know all a freight train a quarter of a mile long leaves Carlisle heading South two lines 1xup 1xdown a few miles on and the loco on the freight train fails and the 125 mph Pendelino is stuck behind it. No drivers and if the idiots running the Railways get their way No Guard (there isn't a guard anyway on freight), so there is no one there to do anything it could be a simple thing to fix on the freight loco or one of the wagons but there is no one there to do it. Explain your actions as someone sat miles away in an office telling the world how driverless trains work.
