Can you name all the unique (not a franchise) and owner run restaurants in Southport Town centre?

Probably not, but there are certainly a lot more independent restaurants than there are national chains.

no one in their right mind would pay to park your car when you can shop for free out of town,,the town centre is doomed until it can compete with kew etc...

Many people complain that the cost and ease of parking inhibit people spending time in the town.

But abandoning parking restrictions would lead to chaos and cause just as many, or more, problems.

So some form of paid-for parking is necessary, which requires enforcement.

How about...Sefton residents who pay council tax are entitled to buy a special parking disc which would give an hours free parking in a controlled bay. First disk is £25, and a second available at £20.Good for a year.

A variant could be sold through guest houses and hotels giving a week of the same opportunity for (say) £10.

If you overstay, based on the time you displayed on your disk, you pay the fine as now

What is at Kew of much interest, a couple of discount stores / supermarkets nothing to pull the punters in. There's no need to pay for parking in town, there's plenty of free parking a short stroll from the centre and a free bus if you want to travel around the town.

Only 3 people in Southport had cars in the seventies and they all lived on Lulworth Road.

There was no internet shopping, there was no 'Kew'. But there were plenty of yellow lines and mean traffic wardens.....Only way to get a space, was by driving round and round in the hope of finding one being vacated.
