Today ASDA Head office in Leeds rang me to apologist for the unfortunate incident that I had been part of. Elliot said (note we are on first name terms already) The actions that you saw John by members of the ASDA staff was not in keeping in making ASDA Britain number one supermarket. I apologies on behalf of Asda and to show good faith I will get the manager of the Southport Branch to visit you at your house and give you free of charge the items you expected to buy the other night.

At 5-00pm just an hour later the manager of Asda knocked on my door.

    HOW ABOUT THAT FOR SERVICE

Asda saw a problem and put it right, they went overboard to keep me as a customer.

I have to complement ASDA. THANK YOU
Ah but what would you do if I were to experience such in your shop .

you Mr Grassroots would not have a bad experience in my shop.

I have had 38 shops, some what fewer than Asda in 3 countries that may be more than Asda and only had one or maybe two customers with a problem.

I am proud of my record. THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT, even when they are wrong.

Now back to Everton,s great performance over Man C and Liverpool's disgraceful performance at Man U. letting our city down.

If ASDA was a football team in my mind they where 1-0 nil down at half time and then came back with 2 great rice makers in the second half to win me over as a fan.

I always ask the customer,"Would you like me to pack your bags today?".Its just polite to do so.

Yes whip , I didn't want the assistant to pack my bag , what I wanted to do is for me to pack , but she insisted on the goods being put in the trolley after being scanned I then paid for the items , took the trolley elsewhere then put the goods in my carrier bags .
Think I'll shop in your shop in future .

This is infuriating, and is why I don't shop at Aldi.

There is no conveyor at the 'payment end', and I was told very imperiously by a robot (sorry, member of staff) that customers are supposed to put the items straight back into the trolley and take it over to the shelf by the window to bag them up.

I pointed out that this means that you have to load and unload the trolley four times, and the assistant said (as God is my witness) "Yes, but it gets the money in the till quicker". Obviously destined for a career in management!

Lidl has the same system, but the staff are much friendlier imho.

Agree totally , yesterday at the next till an elderly lady became very confused as to what she should do . Another customer had to re assure the lady and pack her bag .
