Origins of the name: Anglo Saxon Bold or Botle, dwell
Bo
ltelai (Domesday Book); Botle, 1212, 1237; Botull, 1306; Bothull, 1332; Bothell, 1348. (VCH Lancs: III)
Hellhole for me although it obviously appeals to some ...

A campaign to leave Sefton would receive my
emphatic and unequivocal support.
Orwell said "If there is hope, it lies in the proles." Whilst champagne socialists see diversity idealised at university, the common folk experience it first hand in their neighbour hoods.

I'd say it was the people of Southport that sound bitter.

Perfectly understandable under the circumstances.
Our once beautiful town has become dirty, run-down and unappealing.

Maybe that's down to the people in it? Or is that somebody else's problem?
I wonder how many of the moaners actually contribute to our town?

To the person that seems to think Southport is on the Mersey Estuary a Big WRONG !!!! It finishes at Formby Point...
Southport is actually on the Ribble Estuary...
As for leaving Sefton, the only link we have with Liverpool and Bootle etc,
is that a proportion of the population work there.

But Southport is part of the Liverpool City Region and the people of Southport voted continuously for a scouse MP -John Pugh.

Only 7 votes, at least 6 wants Southport out of Merseyside and 1 (mike1979) wants Southport to stay in Merseyside.
