What a brilliant thread, it just goes to show we are still out there!
What about:
The Rookery
Carr Lane
Russell Road
Bankfield Lane
Portland Street
High Park Road
Cut my football career (and my knees) on these places

And watching Ainsdale St John's play on the rec on Liverpool Road. Where Kenilworth and Stourton Roads are now. I'm talking late 40s early 50s now. Then cycling across the moss to watch them play in places like Haskayne.
For some reason I always recall that their goalkeeper at the time was named Alan Skinner. Probably because I went to school with his brother Colin.

The Klic Klic Stanley St.
The Mocambo West St.
The Dandy lst floor Neville St.
The Glen Park Lord St.
The Floral Hall on Boxing Day afternoon to The Teenbeats.
The Klic Klic was where all the groups played, entry was a bottle of coke or similar and if you wanted a pass out your hand was stamped, those were the days. The Undertakers, the Merseybeats and The Dennisons to name but a few.

Then on we sail,
Never thinking that the wind could ever fail,
No one gets to heaven till they"ve lived a while in hell,
And even then its rare
That you"ll be going there.

I felt sure it was (post 36), thanks for confirming. Remember too, GB Juniors on Saturday morning circa 1947/49.

Hyes Nick, I went to GB juniors alsoa couple of years later than you.
The Tiv in Devonshire Rd was mentioned here too, full name The Tivoli
Also remember the Regent near Churchtown Station, possibly where Tesco Express is now.
Cinema in Mosely St too in Birkdale.
Btw, my grand dad was a doorman at the Palladium, full uniform job with the greatcoat, probably circa 1940's
