    Steam-Hauled Excursion To York

Unfortunately, being somewhat geographically distant, I will not be able enjoy the steam-hauled excursion to York. However, I was wondering if someone on Southport QLocal could immortalise the event and post some decent HQ video on a site such as Vimeo ?
Human beings make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders they have managed to invent boredom?

I thought that was what Eurostar was all about...?
There comes a point in your life when you realise who really matters, who never did and who always will.

Eurostar would be very nice indeed, there's just a small problem with a four-letter word : WORK !

At great sacrifice, I would be willing to do the journey on your behalf. Of course you would have to pay all my expenses, re: return train ticket, 1 stale ham sandwich in York Station, 8 pints of Best Bitter to wash it down with and a 2 week old pork pie for the return journey. In return I will video the journey and post it on Vimeo for you to cherish.

The return journey video may be a bit out of focus tho

There's loads of rail enthusiasts on YouTube who cover (video) these events.

There will be video uploaded to YouTube, recorded from either platforms or on-board (normally both), from some point along the journey, normally a day or 3 later.

    Yes, I know ! I've done it myself !

What I was hoping for, was something better, quality wise, uploaded to a site such as Vimeo.

Just spoken to the driver it is 48151 because of the length of train and the climb of Miles Platting bank a black 5 would not do. It was hoped to get Oliver Cromwell 70013 but it is doing other things.

07-20 if anyone goes for later times you'll be walking.

Hope it looks like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8X7mVOZk54M as it goes over The Moss, but doubt that that bit of line is gonna make it work like Ais Gill

By the way, does anyone know what the "special" was in at Southport on Saturday? 2 class 67's back and front. Passed by and saw it, never got to ask anyone.

Wow the train looked great leaving Southport at about 7:30am. Lots of carriages and steam funny enough! It returns at about 9:30pm.
