Temp Lights/Delays S'port Rd Near the Crem.

Human moles are at it again on Southport Rd, digging a new hole adjacent to Turning Lane. One-way working with traffic tailing back in both directions. Might be worth finding an alternative route if you're in a hurry.

They should open up the cycle track for cars ! lets be honest the cyclists never use it.

Often thought this should happen , it would give the A570 an extra lane in both directions .

    A) What good would that do, with the road narrowing again towards Carr Cross? Imo, the Rainford Bypass wants extending right through to Kew Roundabout.

    B) Depends on the type of bike. Mountain bikes etc use it ok, but the broken glass along there forces roadbikes onto the main carriageway.

Nah, but you can reduce Lord St to 2 traffic lanes with pleasure, freeing up the outside ones for a pair of splendid bus/taxi/bike lanes.

    A) What's the point in that, cyclists never use the cycle track anyway.

    B) What broken glass ?? cycle tracks are cleaned more than the roads.

Temp lights in Formby /Freshfield near BP garage have been causing tailbacks onto the Dual Carriageway the last few days.

I've found them ok, getting through on first or second go. But then again, I haven't been through there at peak times.

    A) Disagree. Amongst those who use it, a number of Kershaws staff ride that cycle path daily.

    B) There's been tiny fragments of broken glass on there for many, many years. I've had punctures along there myself. A while ago I was averaging one puncture per week. At one point even resorting to having solid tyres fitted! Now with benefit of 'puncture-proof' Schwalbe Marathon tyres, I seem to have it licked..

    C) That's news to me. It takes phone calls to WLBC to make them come out. They tell me it costs the Council £40 to send the sweeper out, which is not so effective in removing fragments anyway.
