The Park Hotel, Birkdale
Birkdale village enjoys the reputation of being a very pleasant, boutique venue that has become very popular venue among the more discerning and wealthier members of the public. It has not always been so.
A few years ago - Birkdale Village at night was a ghost town absolutely bleak and completely empty of people, apart from a few shoppers to the Spar. But this very pleasant situation is about to be completely ruined!
The Park Hotel last night featured some entertainment that could be heard more than a mile and a half away loud and clear! Attracting only those who seek to be deafened as opposed to socialising. It must have been a real turn off for the golfers who just wanted to relax. it put off those who enjoy sitting out at a table on the pavement on the warm night, having a meal to relax with, or a nice quiet drink at a roadside table where you could sit and socialise. The noise turned people away from the village, and many residents were forced to close all windows to escape the noise.
If this continues, the village will once again return to being a ghost town or even worse - attract the wrong elements of society.

So that's what the racket was. And I don't even live particularly close! Surely there are bye-laws about noise levels? I have no objections to people enjoying themselves, and it isa special occasion but I hope they will consider their neighbours in future.

It's normally the wealthier of Birkdale that are holding parties in their gardens with loud music and fireworks going off til all hours at least monthly throughout the year so I hardly think an evening or two of outside music to celebrate The Open will lead to the decline of Birkdale village and besides The Park has always attracted the oddbods of town. Maybe you just hadn't noticed that until your peaceful routine was disturbed.

There were parties held by the footballers, but there has not been any for some time now. No! Loud - I mean, like Glastonbury LOUD!
