What do you base this assumption on?

Remainer btw. I'm really not sure that it would. You have to remember that it was claimed that a leave vote would trigger a financial crisis and as many people who voted remain out of fear would have been influenced by this. It does mean that some things are more expensive, but foreign holidays, cars and imported food are all things you can work around. The other thing of course, is that there is a lot of posturing by politicians and businesses, but very little action. Of course companies are going to threaten to leave the UK if the environment is not favourable, and of course they will say that to put pressure on the government to create favourable deals. We will see several years of posturing both by the EU, by UK politicians and by companies. Nice distraction to be honest from privatising the NHS.

I base it on the knowledge that most of the leave campaign was lies and now the people know that.

The general public as still being protected from price rises since the vote, but it's not going to last forever. I wish the manufactures would just pass on the full extra cost. Not because I want prices to go up, but to show the extents of prices rises already and we are not close to being out yet.

As for the comment about the cost to the tax payer, Stuff the cost this is a history changing move. That will hit the tax payer a hell of a lot more than a second referendum.

Probably due the PM etc putting a positive spin on their situation....In reality though, they have a long hard series of negotiations ahead - with a beneficial outcome by no means certain.
