UK Hotel Chain
For the fifth year running one UK Hotel chain has been rated the worst in the UK. Surely it is in their best interests to ensure that they provide high standards if they are to maintain profits - they still have to pay for staff and overheads? Or since this chain has purchased some of the prime buildings in many towns across the UK - are they only interested in a long term investment?

The way that chain work is buying rundown premises / businesses that require substantial investment to upgrade / refurbish and operating them to squeeze every last penny out of the business then flogging them on as 'development opportunities'.

The bit I don't get is why anybody would consider staying in any of those places.

I agree, Britannia has such a bad reputation, and rightly so.

What a sad time for the once glorious Prince of Wales. I remember my Nan telling me about working there in the 30's and 40's. Days when even the most menial of staff were inspected on their turnout before being let loose on the poor unsuspecting toffs.

I expect the majority of guests are elderly singles or carers to whom the
offers of the price location and resort appeal to their budget and travel
limitations.

And possibly partially sighted guests as well, unable to see the condition of the building, and with NO taste buds either,to be able to taste the bland,half-cooked food that they serve in the P of W Hotel to their guests.
Health and Safety Inspectors should be lining up at the doors,to check the whole place, bedrooms, eating areas, kitchens etc,and even the rear yard is disgusting as well, drainage water running down from the waste pipes, the stench you can smell on a warm day coming from there is horrendous.

Gosh that is disgusting.
We have not been in for many years-we cancelled our booking at check in.
So long in fact that it was before the smoking ban in public places.
The guests then were generally elderly and some infirm which was why we thought the menu looked and smelt of 'school dinners.'
That was pre present owners.
Since then the deals on offer on the internet have got better.
One can book for as little as £79

I've questioned a few people who stay at Britannia Hotels as to why they picked the hotel and most say because they were the cheapest.

Wow! Fantastic! Except that Travel Lodge with clean fresh rooms, modern décor, four star rating and Wi Fi in every suite, have rooms from £47 per night!

Bargain.
Still for some people the 3 day holiday with dinner and coach door to door would still be more enticing than the Travel Lodge.

Better still! With a swimming pool and entertainment - people could always go to Pontins!
