We do Spain every year, and have been taking the ferry for the past fifteen years.
Advantages are, comfy ferries with overnight accommodation, your own car on holiday, no baggage restrictions, far more relaxing, no queuing at airports, and without trying to sound condescending, a far better class of people. Fellow travellers at airports often tend to be rude, and unpleasant, not caring about anyone but themselves, with an 'I'm on holiday' attitude.
Give me the boat every time.

Travelling by air is a huge bore... but a necessary evil to get me to where I want to go until we get teleporters. I try to sleep through most of the long-haul flights and avoid the disgusting "food" and other passengers' germs as much as possible.
