What type of person is your ideal house guest

We often have guests come and stay for various periods of time the most thoughtful I have had stay, is a lady who refused to be waited on, preferred to see to herself, helped around the house and made herself scarce when people were getting ready for work. It was as if she was a part of the family. Lovely person.

Ideal guest - one who says “Thanks for the wine, it’s time I was making tracks” after about an hour - 2 hours absolute max!

    Oh yes.

The guest who appreciates they are the one a 'goodbye' is intended for.

Fair enough! We have all had callers who were 'Just passing by.....' and stay until the early hours of the morning with non-stop chatter. But what if you have a house guest for a week or so?

    You have my sympathy!

When I chose my ‘retirement’ bungalow in 2000 it officially had 2 bedrooms but I decided I needed a study/work room so things got changed around & now I just have one single bedroom!

    NO house guests

I do however live close to Lord St so plenty of hotels or B&Bs for any would-be guests to choose from!
Suits me though I realise it is not for everyone

We had the worst every houseguest when I lived in Birkdale. 15 minutes walk from the golf course, she was a friend of a friend who invited herself for the duration of the open.

We fed her every evening, she didn't as much as offer to load the dishwasher or buy a takeaway. She showed her appreciation at the end of the weekend by giving us a £5 bottle of wine.

Not even a christmas card since.

That is awful! Good on you for putting up with her. How much of a friend was your 'friend'?
