A nmfhs member ( they are all really helpful ) just found this for me, Just after turning into Weld Rd there is, on the lefthand side, Priory Gardens. In 1914 the Seed's Southport Directory shows it to be between numbers 30 and 32 Weld Rd. It consisted of four houses numbered 1 to 4. Number 2 Priory Gardens was named Hazeldene!!!.
There were lots of street name changes and on the 1861 census Hodson relatives of mine were noted to be living at 2 Gambier Terrace (when Gambier Terrace is entered into google maps it brings up Priory Gardens as Gambier Terrace) A trip out in the car is required to check as trees are in the way yet again on google.
The member who originally posted the pic hasn't been on there in over a year so will have to wait until they reply to their pm
I've checked on bing maps and all the houses in Priory Gardens have been demolished and replaced it would seem!
I worked in Birkdale in the 60's and remember Priory Gardens houses as being rather run down.
Why do people never admit to being just the right amount of whelmed?

The doorway and steps look very similar to those on the big house on Aughton Rd facing Hollybrook Road but I dont think the number would be correct because the house is amongst other houses and not near a corner unless the numbers have changed where Aughton Rd meets Upper Aughton Rd in the past?
Sorry that sounds a bit confusing but I know what I mean

Aughton Rd meets Upper Aughton Rd at the railway line.

It was driving me mad last night I thought I recognized the steps (very shallow, sweeping out at the ends and the distinctive stumps). I was out on my bike earlier when it popped into my head where I thought it was and I was only a few streets away so went to have a look. Too dark to see properly so can't be sure but some very interesting points of similarity
don't know if it's this site or google maps playing up but I can't seem to embed street view or insert a link
maybe someone else could try
edit ; managed a screenshot

OH reckons the Cresta Hotel on the corner of Manchester Rd and Hawkeshead St used to be called the Hazeldene

the owner of the pic has been in touch and has told me that a relative was identifying the people on it and would forward a better quality scan and hopefully some names to go with it will update you all again when I do.

I have driven past this building many times, but the exact street escapes me. I believe it is on a quiet side road out of town, around the Portland/Part/Duke/Talbot St area. That's just to the best of my knowledge.
Would you like some salt and vinegar for that chip on your shoulder?

The houses in Priory Gardens were not demolished and the original buildings still exist in Birkdale. I don't think that they were every run down as far as I remember. They seem to have been well looked after. Is it Priory Gardens you remember........? There are still a lot of trees but the layout at the front of the house in the photo is different from the house in PG.
