'Special Branch' on duty as Storm Callum blows into west Lancashire
Police closed a number of country roads yesterday afternoon as Storm Callum blew into town.
And he made his mark on places like Dark Lane and Castle Lane, Westhead with two older trees brought down in the high winds.
That saw 'special branch' officers on patrol with a specialist tree felling team from LCC removing the stricken oak tree which blew down at around 3.30pm on Dark Lane. The team couldn't remove the other tree which proved a more dangerous proposition yesterday afternoon - it will be attended to as soon as practicable now the winds have died down.
