Merseyside Police have issued the following advice to Liverpool fans ahead of the Champions League Final in Kiev this Saturday 26th May:

Chief Superintendent Dave Charnock said: "We want every fan to have a safe and enjoyable experience in Kiev and we have been working closely with the Ukranian police, Spanish police, Liverpool Football Club and supporter groups ahead of Saturday night’s match. A number of dedicated football officers from Merseyside Police will also be travelling to the Ukraine.

"I know that a lot of fans will be travelling from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, particularly on Friday and Saturday, and I would ask that people remain sensible to ensure that everybody is able to get to their flights safely and promptly.

"While we understand and appreciate that many Liverpool fans will want to travel to Kiev, I would continue to encourage fans who do not have tickets to not travel. There is no designated screen area in Kiev where the match is being shown. We would also advise people against trying to buy tickets from touts outside the stadium.

"Shevchenko Park is the nominated Liverpool FC fanzone, which is located 15 minutes’ walk from the stadium. Shuttle buses will be in used to take fans to and from Boryspil airport and I would encourage fans to use this as the central point to get to and from the airport.

"Fans who are travelling with tickets are encouraged to monitor official fan advice on the Club’s official website and social media feeds for information to assist their visit. And as ever, given the vigilance of police and security around the stadium, we would encourage fans to arrive in plenty of time to enjoy the atmosphere.

"I would also encourage people to look after their own personal safety by taking some simple precautions – look after your money and belongings, stay together in groups, drink sensibly and give yourself plenty of time to get to the ground."
