Woodlands – Could you help us provide the lifesaving care and medication these poorly kittens need to survive?

Animal rescue; a fight for survival – a very real, very brutal fight we see regularly at Woodlands Animal Sanctuary, not only for the animals in our care – but for the charity itself. Independent and solely funded by donations and monies raised from their fundraising events Woodlands Animal Sanctuary also faces a constant battle for financial survival. Lifesaving care and medication is expensive – FACT. Providing the sanctity and care, sick, abandoned and injured animals need doesn’t come cheaply - financially or emotionally. Woodlands Animal Sanctuary needs to maintain a level of income and support to be able to continue to help all the brave and beautiful animals that come into its care, so that they, can continue their brave fight for survival so they may fulfil their dreams of a happier, healthier life.

Recently Woodlands has been involved with the dramatic rescue of several litters of very young, very fragile kittens and their mums. Not only have these arrivals needed around the clock care, they have also required substantial veterinary attention and medication. Heartbreakingly, they have had to say a tearful farewell to some of these babies who have lost their brave fight for life, and have had to wave them over rainbow bridge to pastures new. However, with this loss comes an even stronger desire to allow their brothers and sisters the life these babies were never allowed to experience. The charity is now in a position where four kittens of the eight kittens who are still fighting for survival are currently admitted to the vets, where they are on a drip. Two of the kittens who were found down the well are in a grave battle for their lives as we speak. Woodlands Animal Sanctuary and the wonderful vets at Rufford Veterinary Group are giving them absolutely everything that they have to give, to help these adorable kittens win their right to a longer life.

Any animal, but especially young, vulnerable babies, when found in situations like this are such an unknown quantity and often, because they have had such a very poor start in life, they face a fight so much harder and often more expensive to their rescuers than the healthier animals that can also come in for rehoming. These extra bills are the pressures that can cripple an independent charity that doesn’t have the financial support and backing of the government or a big business to line their pockets. Woodlands Animal Sanctuary must continue to source the funds to pay for these unexpected costs, that can run into hundreds of thousands of pounds. This is in addition to continuing to provide for all the others animals in its care. Therefore, if you could donate any amount towards their vet bills and care the whole team will be so very grateful.

Woodlands have subsequently set up a Mydonate page, for funds to specifically go towards these fragile little warrior kittens. Every penny really does help as they continue fighting to be fit and healthy kittens. If you could donate any amount please please follow the link https://mydonate.bt.com/events/kittenbills/444468 to the Mydonate page. To follow the progress of these kittens and of all the animals in the sanctuary’s care you can visit their website or social media pages.

The charity does run a full schedule of fundraising events in a bid to provide funds for the ongoing costs it encounters. The next open day to be held at the sanctuary site is a Dogs Day Out, on Sunday 23rd July, 11am until 3pm. So whether you have your own dog or not, why not take a trip there to see first-hand all the wonderful care this charity gives all the animals in its care?
