BTP are appealing for information after an assault at Hillside station in Southport, Merseyside.

The incident happened at around 2.30pm on Thursday 27 July.

A member of rail staff on board the 1.36pm train from Hunts Cross to Southport asked a group of teenage boys to leave the service at Hillside as they were behaving in a disorderly manner.

One of the members of the group then assaulted the member of staff, a man aged in his fifties.

He sustained facial injuries and lost his tooth in the attack.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident who has not yet spoken to police.

The offender is a white teenage boy, aged approximately 14- 16 years old and he was wearing black clothing.

If you have any information about the incident, please call BTP on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016, quoting reference number 286 27/7/17.

Why do police wait so long after an incident to ask the public for help? Surely it is better to ask when the events are fresh in potential witnesses memory's. Hope they catch this perp.

    I agree.

There was some CCTV on here about the Rufford Road incident, and it was released 3 or 4 weeks after the event.

Allegedly there are many CCTV cameras on the trains, so why don't they release this footage into the public domain. It is ridiculous for the Police to wait weeks before releasing anything at all.
