Police are appealing for information following an incident on The Strand in Liverpool city centre on Saturday, 25 June 2016.

Just before 7.15pm on Saturday evening two men on scrambler bikes targeted a Vauxhall Corsa car being driven along The Strand near to Mann Island.

The driver of the Corsa had pulled out on to The Strand from Liver Street, narrowly missing one of two scrambler bikes being ridden along The Strand – it is believed the riders of the bikes had gone against the traffic lights and one of them nearly collided with the car.

When the driver of the Corsa stopped at the next traffic lights the scrambler bikes circled the car and then one of the riders got off and smashed the windscreen of the Corsa before riding off down Gower Street towards the River Mersey.

The riders of the bikes are not further described as they were both wearing helmets.

Superintendent Mark Morgan, said: "Following recent pro-active work, local policing teams have seized numerous scrambler type bikes which we believe were being used to commit crime and anti social behaviour on the streets of Merseyside. Incidents such as the one that occurred this afternoon are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated and I would like to take this opportunity to urge the public to continue to help us by telling us where these bikes are stored, so that we can make our local communities safer. If anyone saw the incident this afternoon, or you believe you know who is responsible please call us."

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information which could help the police with their inquiries is asked to call Liverpool CID on 0151 777 4064, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
