Imaginative school children have helped create a story using art boxes in King's Gardens, Southport.

King’s Gardens is home to 10 art boxes situated along the lower Promenade behind the long bench which display community art, poems and photographs.

As part of the Southport Learning Partnership, pupils from The Green Machine took part in a creative workshop using the 3D boxes to tell a story. Children from Holy Family and St Philip's primary schools were all involved.

Working with Sefton Council's Parks and Greenspaces staff, the tale was brought to life in the boxes which are now on display in the gardens.

Cllr Ian Moncur, Cabinet Member Health and Wellbeing, said: "Pupils from The Green Machine really got involved in the project and created a great story about a cat going on an adventure.

"They dreamt up the characters and storyline telling the cat's tale in 10 different art boxes throughout King's Gardens using arts and craft materials.

"Please come down and follow this interesting story the have created all set in the beautiful surrounding of King's Gardens."
