Southport residents are invited to raise a glass while raising funds for a local cancer research charity at a summer lunch, taking place next week.

The popular Summer Sparkle event, now in its 12th year, is taking place on July 6 at West House, Sandringham Road, Ainsdale, from 10:30am onwards.

The Southport Committee of North West Cancer Research has hosted the event in the home and gardens of Joan and Niall Roy since 2004, entertaining thousands of people and raising more than £25,000 for local cancer research projects in that time.

Guests can enjoy exploring the garden and sales tables, as well as take part in a raffle with prizes donated by members of the committee and supporters of the charity.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to North West Cancer Research to facilitate vital cancer research projects in the region and directly benefit people in the North West.

The charity has committed to funding more than £12.3million worth of cancer research over the next five years – £8.1m of which will be spent locally at the University of Liverpool.

Tickets cost £10, including homemade canapés and sparkling wine on arrival, and are available on the door or form Sara Cooper at North West Cancer Research on 0151 709 2919.
