The Christmas Market stalls and the Ice Rink are being constructed in the Gardens outside the Atkinson.
Opening on Friday 7th December and running through until Saturday 5th January*, skating is from as little as £4.50* in off-peak times. Skates are included and skating aids for the smallest of your family so they can grow their confidence on the ice.
And if you don’t want to skate you can keep yourself warm with some festive food or the perfect winter tipple in our winter chalets whilst watching the skating and enjoying the twinkly Christmas lights along Lord Street and The Atkinson.
Skate beneath the 60-foot digital Christmas tree which changes colour or take a look inside and witness its magical light show, making this a truly unique experience and the first ever for Southport at Christmas time.
Merseyrail and Northern operate fast and frequent trains to Manchester and Liverpool so you can easily escape the big city life and be in Southport train station in very little time. Southport ice skating rink is a quick 5 minutes walk away and located on the Town Hall Gardens by Remedy and El Rincon Bodega and in front of The Atkinson.
After ice skating enjoy a meal in one of our local restaurants who serve excellent quality food made with local produce and have some great offers for Christmas.
Or have a wander around our independent shops and High Street favourites for that unique last-minute Christmas gift - visit our Shopping in Southport website for up to date offers, news and a full directory.
And if you really want to make your experience magical, book an overnight stay and fully embrace the tranquil coast of Southport this Christmas.
Skate, dine, shop, stay - Christmas magic is in the air when you visit Southport.

I am pretty sure the existing bar/eaterie is well chuffed (NOT) that a number of pop-up chalets also selling food and drink have been located right outside their front door!

Moan moan moan moan moan - perhaps some of us would like to try something different - instead of the substandard corporate dross served up by some of the local eateries. Perhaps we'd also like it served to us by someone who actually wants to serve us and - do so with a cheery disposition.
Before any of you start gathering up your skirts in indignation I am aware of the odd decent place in that locality.

At the risk of being shot, the 'chalets' look more like garden sheds to me and the 'tree' is not a tree, it's pretty yes, but definitely not a tree.
When is 'off-peak'? How much is peak, and when is it? What time is it open? Do you have to book or just turn up?
'you can keep yourself warm with some festive food or the perfect winter tipple in our winter chalets' - Seriously, the equipment, food, staff and visitors all fit in those sheds? Are they from the TARDIS family?
Edit - found the prices, a bit steep for 45 mins at £34.
