Christmas can be a wonderful time of year but also very difficult for anyone that is homeless, lonely or the elderly with no immediate family or friends to share the special day with.

That is why with that in mind, Southport Football Club will be opening its doors on Christmas Day (8am till 12pm) for the public to come in, use the facilities and enjoy some continental breakfast, present giving and a chat in a warm and welcoming environment.

"Our community is extremely important to us and I am really pleased that we are providing somewhere for people to come for food, a chat and warmth in our club on a day that is about family and friends. Myself, Directors, management, players and staff will be on hand to serve breakfast and brighten the day for those that attend. We are also asking for fans to help on the day if they are local and want to join us, but more importantly over the coming weeks for donations to help make the day the best it can be."

CEO, Natalie Atkinson
The Club would like to see fans on the day if they wish to help, but are looking for donations of any size to make the event a success. This can be anything from toiletries, clothes, tinned food or even gifts, Southport FC related or not.

Donations need to be in by Thursday 20 December and can be handed in at the 1881 Lounge, opening hours available here, on a match-day in the Lounge or Club Shop or alternatively arrange a time with the club by using the email address below.

For more information on the day, please email community@southportfc.net

The club will also continue to work closely with Southport Foodbank over the festive period.
