A complex sub-letting scheme appears to be giving some hope that the two
vandalised derelict phone kiosks outside the town hall in Southport are
going to get renovated to be let-out to entrepreneurs.
Red Kiosk, who took on the phone boxes from BT . . . .
http://www.redkioskcompany.co.uk/
and presided over their recent rapid decline are now planning to let the
kiosks out to Pod Works
http://www.podworks.global/
who in turn hope to make money out of them.
Councillor Tony Dawson, who drew the council's attention to the state of
these kiosks in early November, says:
"If this does indeed happen it will be great news. The owners of these
kiosks should never have allowed them to deteriorate like this since they
are Grade 2 listed buildings. Likewise, Sefton Council has a responsibility
to make sure owners of listed buildings keep them in reasonable condition
which clearly hasn't happened here, right under their noses."
"I just hope that someone with 'clout' will keep an eye on the kiosks one
they have been spruced up. Otherwise, history will simply repeat itself."

They're still at it.... the other site has Cllr Barton taking credit for negotiations with the owner on the restoration, I'm sure Cllr Dawson will respond soon!
He's probably right however in saying:
"This goes to show that, rather than threatening legal action and the full force of the local authority to try and get things done, mutual respect and sincerity are key to driving further future inward investment into Southport."
Doesn't seem to be Cllr Dawson's approach in "calling for" or complaining to the council as after all it's us versus Bootle!
Pod Works did however say they're plannning to open in southport in a press release on 6th September though so hard really to make out a clear sequence of events in what's dominated our council electives time of late. As although still advertised Pod Works probably had some confidence in it if doing press releases.
All good sport however in the race to the bottom

Heartily sick of watching councillors Dawson and Barton striving for publicity and brownie points. Hope to see both of them defeated at the next election.
In the meantime surely they can put their petty squabbles aside and together do something that would really benefit the town.
I suggest resignation........
