A part of his campaign to get the verandas of Lord Street renovated Cllr Barton has conducted another site visit.
Cllr Barton said of his recent visit...
Recently conducting a Site Visit at Lord Street Central whilst observing and charting all progress made so far by the Team here who continue to do a sterling job of restoring this Victorian listed building back to its true splendour and glory.
I am especially grateful to this Team who upon my original request to restore the complex have been an absolute pleasure to work with and truly appreciate the value of positive and constructive working as opposed to Enforcement as proposed by other local Organisations.
I should like to thank my residents who continue to show me the same mutual respect & sincerity with which I show them and prescribe by. Onwards & Upwards!

I conducted another "site visit" as I ambled along Lord Street in search of a sausage roll and a bag of crisps. I'd also like to thank "my residents" whom I "prescribe by".
(Is this div for real?)

Does Damien foot the cost of the accommodation for them?

I'm sure verandahs are very important but is it not slightly more important to actually have some open shops and businesses underneath those verandahs?
Perhaps there needs to be a little more emphasis on this, rather than the aesthetic benefits of a bit of Hammerite (other metal paints are available).

I suppose the argument is that if the shops & verandahs are in good condition then retailers are more likely to want to take them on.
Sadly, the high street is dying and I am as guilty as the next person of assisting by doing a lot of my shopping online. Amazon just make it so damned easy.
We should be exploiting our beautiful Victorian architecture and the environs of Lord Street and turning it into a USP. Lytham has a bustling town centre filled with lovely independent shops and those are the sort of businesses we need to attract. Lord Street should be an asset rather than the liability it is becoming. Our Council are so myopic that they simply can't see what is needed - including much lower parking charges!
