Welcome for CPS announcement that convicted fraudster Barton now faces Proceeds of Crime Act action

The recent announcement by the Crown Prosecution Service that convicted Southport care home owner and fraudster David Barton will now face Proceeds of Crime proceedings to recoup the funds from his crimes has been welcomed by Birkdale Lib Dem councillor Simon Shaw.

During his trial which has just concluded, Liverpool Crown Court heard how Barton targeted wealthy residents for almost 20 years. Now he has been sentenced to 21 years imprisonment following the longest ever trial held at Liverpool Crown Court.

Councillor Shaw has been Vice-Chair of the Merseyside Police and Crime Panel for the last two years, and has congratulated the police and the CPS for their hard work.

“I know some local residents have been concerned that Barton shouldn’t profit from his crimes. Accordingly I’m pleased that the CPS have said that they will now begin action under the Proceeds of Crime Act.”

Well his "Enzo Ferrari" is a starter for £1million, plus two other Ferrari's should payback some to the unfortunate victims.

They should empty all of his known bank accounts as well,but keep just enough back for some Economy one-way air fare tickets,for him,and also the rest of his family,sending them all back to where they came from when he is released..........................................Well clear of the UK.

Not just the known bank accounts - I bet there is a lot of money hidden away too!

What they should do is charge him board and lodgings while he’s inside.

Maybe not, but that's no excuse for letting them keep their ill-gotten gains.
Distribute to remaining relatives or donate to some of Southport's registered charities.

me too grassy ,had a bad do with this detritous ,nearly ruined me ,but I bounced back(just).however others outside this investigation have farred worse as well ,so thank karmas grace on that one.the ones I feel for are those his shadow touched,those innocents just going about their lives and trusting,and those same ones that stood in his paths desires going about their day to day s life.theres quite a few.mines buissness and in buissness s..t happens,its part of that road!.but those innocents I feel for.truly a vile excuse for a being.
