Over the last few weeks we have been collecting Easter Eggs with a view to donating them to local organisations who support families in need within the town.

We have been absolutely blown away with the amount of donations received and want to thank each and every one who contributed.

On Thursday a group from the club consisting of CEO Natalie Atkinson, player Liam Martin, staff member Sarah Davidson and Volunteer Coordinator Christine Classon went on the road, delivering the donated eggs to two fantastic local organisations.

The first stop of the day was Home Start where Natalie, Liam, Sarah and Christine delivered chocolate eggs to Annie Ives during a family group session being held at the centre on Canning Road.

There, the group had an opportunity to meet some of the families that benefit from the services and see one of the sessions in action.

Annie Ives and Karen Cooke from Home Start look after a team of volunteers who provide a much-needed support and befriending service to families with at least one child under the age of five in the area.

In addition to the home visiting services, Home Start has a family group where parents enjoy some “me time” taking part in sessions such as Parenting Programmes, Healthy Eating and Art and Craft activities while the children are playing in an adjoined creche.

The next stop for the group was Southport Family Centre who offer support to parents/carers on a range of subjects like positive parenting programmes and behaviour support.

We met up with Helen Apter who told us a little about the work carried out by the centre and had a message of thanks to all who donated.

“The families who attend the Southport Family Centre would like to say a massive thank you for the lovely gift of Easter Eggs brought to us today by the volunteers of Southport Football Club.”

“Staff will ensure that all children we support will receive an Egg with your best wishes. We will be spreading the word of your forth coming fun day and any future events– working together to benefit our community is the way forward.”

Southport Football Club are extremely grateful to all the supporters, players, staff and friends of the club who donated Easter Eggs to this campaign and we would like to say a particular thank you to the 4th Southport Boys Brigade (pictured below) the congregation of St Simon and St Jude’s Church on Old Park Lane and J&K Confectionery Limited of Skelmersdale for their generous donations and huge efforts.
